Maybelline NYFW SS16
Yep, I’m blogging about beauty now! I’ve been wanting to do a beauty section on my blog for a while now, but I just didn’t know where to start. I’ve never really bothered with skincare and makeup much before. It was always my last priority because I’ve always put more thought into my outfits and would just end up putting on makeup as an afterthought. But through the years, I’ve become more and more interested. I still like the natural and undone look though. So I’m all about the no-makeup makeup look and natural shades. Never anything too overdone.
So when Maybelline sent me their SS16 collection from NYFW to review, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try my hand at beauty blogging! So here are my intital thoughts about the collection.
In the kit:
Colorsensational Bold Matte lipsticks in MAT 1, 4, and 5
White Super Fresh 12H No Touchup powder
Lasting Drama Gel Liner
Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel
These shades aren’t the most matte of shades. They have a tiny bit of shine to them and aren’t super pigmented. I like them though, because they don’t feel drying and I use them for an everyday red lipstick type of look since they aren’t too loud. If you want it to be really matte, you can blot your lips a bit with a tissue after applying and it’ll take off the bit of shine it has. MAT1 is more of a bright pink. The MAT4 is an orange-y red. The MAT5 is a cooler red. My personal favorites are the MAT4 & 5! I’m not really a pink lipstick kind of girl unless the pink is more of a nude shade.
I LOVE this one! I’m a sucker for brown/ taupe shades and this one is just perfect for the holidays with a little bit of shine, but it still looks very natural and daytime appropriate. I didn’t blend it in the photo below, but once you blend it, it won’t look as dark. It also has staying power, like the name says. Eyeshadows always tend to fade on me even after putting on primer first, but this one is great!
This gel liner isn’t waterproof and smudges a bit, but it’s great for a non-harsh daytime eyeliner look.
Was a bit skeptical of its no touchup claims at first, but it really does stay and it’s great for people with oily-combination skin like me! I like to put just a bit of this since I’m not a fan of too much foundation.
Will be blogging about the looks I’ve done with this kit next!
